AMBRIDGE LOUNGE/BAR PROVES THAT the BEST FOOD OFTENS COMES FROM TRIPLE D (DINERS, DRIVE INNS, and DIVES) TYPE ESTABLISHMENTS

Ambridge, Pennsylvania. When the Steel Mills were booming it boasted being a town that made the Guinness Book of World Records for having the largest combined total of bars and churches per capita. Still to this day, Ambridge is known for bars and lounges that have delicious food, and drinks that feature a strong pour. One of these, being the Firehouse Lounge is located right on Merchant Street, the main street of town. Let us see why the locals are raving about their delicious chicken wings, sandwiches, burgers, and much more!

Chicken Wings – Firehouse Lounge is regionally famous for their chicken wings. You can tell that a place really takes pride in their chicken wings when they have a plethora of creative sauces. Their wings are fresh, never frozen chicken, fried to extra crispy, and meaty with plenty of chicken on the bone!

Wing Sauces – Their chefs have created a multitude of sauces for your liking. Let us explore a few of their creative sauces. The “Hot Parmesan Garlic” features a mixture of hot buffalo, garlic butter sauce, and parmesan sprinkled with more parmesan. The “Rattlesnake Parmesan Garlic” is Texas Ranch with a bite, garlic butter, and sprinkled with parmesan. The “Multiple Wingasm” has fiesta ranch (similar to cool ranch Doritos), spicy BBQ, hot parm garlic, and topped with parmesan cheese. Other wing flavors include buffalo, buffalo parmesan, buffalo parmesan garlic, hot Cajun, BBQ, honey BBQ, garlic, Italian parmesan, mango habanero, sweet and sassy Cajun, Asian delight, Caribbean jerk, and many more that I did not list because there are so many! If you cannot find a flavor that you like it is time to take up a new hobby!

Burgers – The burger list is extensive. A few that caught my eye are the “Bacon Steakhouse Cheeseburger,” which has bacon, crispy onions, cheddar cheese, A1 sauce, and spicy BBQ sauce. The “Arizona Cheeseburger” has pepper jack cheese, green chiles, onion strings, lettuce, and tomato. Check out their menu for the full burger selection!

H-Bombs (Similar to a Primanti’s Sandwich) – A lot of locals say they are better than Primanti’s. They use a house made coleslaw which everyone seems to love! Choices include Capicola and Cheese, Buffalo Chicken and Cheese, Steak and Cheese, and Bacon and Cheese. Firehouse does not skimp on the fries either, they are piled high overflowing off the sandwich!

Other menu items – Firehouse Lounge also has an extensive appetizer list, other sandwiches, subs, salads, and specialty French fries such as steak and cheese, gyro, chicken parmesan, and loaded fries.

My Final Take

One of the first things you notice when you open the menu is how affordable the prices are! If you go out to eat a lot, you will notice their food prices are significantly lower than most restaurants. The staff are very personable, and the patrons exhibit a profound sense of community while interacting with each other.

Note – There are potentially plans in the works to expand the bar/lounge. This is a smoking bar/lounge so if that is an issue simply order takeout as it is going to be hard to find food that is so reasonably priced, generously portioned, and super tasty. If you have never heard of the Firehouse Lounge now you know, the secret is out!
