Biba

Beaver, Pennsylvania, our county seat. The town itself is dry, and to some Beaver County natives, this may come across as sac-religious.  However, even though there isn’t a “proof” on the bottle, the town is flourishing with tree-lined streets, restaurants, shopping, and unique storefronts.  The town is versatile in the sense that it attracts young adults, families, and retirees.  The monumental construction of the cracker plant could add big economic opportunity to an already booming small town.  Let’s take a look at one of the most talked-about restaurants on Third Street: Biba.

The setting is cozy and the warm glow of Edison Bulbs creates a welcoming ambience.  The open kitchen gives an inviting feel and enhances the culinary experience.  Biba uses fresh ingredients brought in by local farms, businesses, and wineries.  This sets the foundation for a great meal.

After speaking with the owner, Jason Benegasi, it’s clear he’s very passionate about ensuring his guest get made from scratch, homemade, creative dishes.  The menu is hand-selected and gives you enough variety without feeling overwhelmed.  The BYOB offers you the option to bring your favorite wine, for a reasonable cork fee.  They also offer a Taco Tuesday that changes every week.

We actually went on a Tuesday and ordered the tacos and the Cuban sandwich.  The Cuban sandwich was phenomenal in every aspect.  In my personal opinion, I’m not a tapas or micro-portioned kind of guy.  The portion size is impressive, even shareable.  The hand-picked bread is fresh and toasted to perfection.  The ham and pork were cooked just right and layered perfectly.  Most restaurants put the pickle on the side; Biba incorporates it on the sandwich to give you a succulent surprise.  Lastly, they use rich, Dijon mustard, and offer it on the side, to make sure it doesn’t overpower the sandwich.  I don’t normally don’t do this, but I give this sandwich a 10 out of 10.

Biba Final Take:

Summary

As always, my final take. Believe the hype. Biba lives up to its reputation.  It’s clear that the owners have a penchant for food and creating delicious meals for the community.  The staff is friendly and inviting.  You’ll get a great dining experience.  Biba gives you the ability to get a top, notch meal right in your backyard.
