Most will argue that there is a level of nostalgia when partaking in a meal at a diner. The food is inexpensive and delicious. The variety of people that visit diners is unique in that you have everyone from a college professor that educates, to an ironworker that builds America’s infrastructure. To show you the significance of diners in American Society, almost every election campaign makes a visit to a diner to pay homage to the idea that every man and woman are created equal. With these elements in mind, let us look at why David’s Diner in Springdale was named the fifth-best diner in the country by Travel + Leisure.
The food – David’s Diner specializes in flavorful food and generous portions. You can get your typical well-rounded breakfast consisting of eggs, bacon or sausage, and home fries. Grab a breakfast sandwich or a specialty pancake. Take it to the next level and try one of their special breakfast items. The Meat Lover’s Omelet (caption) consists of ham, sausage, bacon, and cheese. The blend of the three meats gives just the right amount of saltiness which creates a super flavorful dish. It also comes with home fries and toast; most will not leave hungry. Feel like indulging, try Ray Rays’ Trash Plate, which is home fries, bacon, eggs, topped with chili meat and cheese. They also serve lunch items such as burgers, wraps, salads. Traditional home cooking items are also featured such as Meatloaf, Hot Turkey Sandwich, and Pot Roast. The item that caught my eye for the big appetite is the Big Joe’s Cheeseburger, which consists of two ½ pound patties, which makes it a 1-pound burger!
The experience – Most regulars will describe the feeling of entering David’s Diner as feeling like you are at home. The owner and staff make it a point to make every customer feel special. They offer a 10% discount to active military, first responders, and veterans. Most successful business owners will tell you, take care of the customer, and the rest will fall into place. David’s Diner has embraced this philosophy since its inception.
David’s Diner Final Take:
DINERS, a PATRIOTIC REPRESENTATION of AMERICA’S HEARTLAND
My final take. In my opinion, there is no substitute for human interaction. Technology has helped us in so many ways and made our lives easier. People, however, are what is most important. David’s Diner is small and cozy, and when you are here, not only are you going to get great food, but you are likely to share in great conversation and meet new people. If you have never been here and you are driving by, remember, dynamite does come in small packages…
