There is something special in the air as the summer season approaches. You can literally feel the energy as the lightning bugs emerge and sparkle through the Woodline. The opening of the pools, the smell of barbecue, long summer nights, and so many other factors spell pure exhilaration. If you are looking to generate excitement in the summer season, Fireworks whether it be consumer or professional will create that awe factor. Whether you are an avid pyro or just enjoy the art of pyrotechnics, the smell of gun powder when handled safely is something special.

If you are from New Castle, Pennsylvania you are proud of the fact that you have 2 of the top firework companies in the United States of America in Zambelli Fireworks International and Pyrotecnico Fireworks. Think about it, how may professional sporting events, parties, and community get-togethers end with fireworks? The Lawrence County seat is not only famous for fireworks but pizza as well. Let us explore why the locals and anyone near the junction of interstate 376, route 422, and route 224 are saying that Mangino’s Pizzeria is something special.

The pizza – Mangino’s is known for their hand pinched thick crust pizza. I know many will disagree, when it comes to pizza, I am not a huge fan of the crust. I want to taste the sauce, cheese, and toppings. By pinching the crust, Mangino’s pizza gives you the sauce, cheese, and toppings on virtually the whole pizza while still leaving the crust at the end of every slice. The sauce is a sweet red sauce that is has been a family secret for over 75 years. The sauce is finely pureed in texture, has just the right amount of sweetness, however, it is not too concentrated in flavorful in that it overpowers the pizza. Finally, Mangino’s uses a combination of real Romano and provolone cheese.

A unique item that Mangino’s offers is that you can buy pizza by the slice which can be hard to find in the Pittsburgh area. They offer your standard toppings such as pepperoni and sausage, but also your gourmet toppings on their specialty pizzas such as meatballs, buffalo chicken, zucchini, and vegetable and eggplant pizza. Bottom line is that this pizza is unique.

Other menu items – Mangino’s has a full, well-rounded menu. The locals rave about their pepperoni rolls which feature hand sliced pepperoni and real provolone cheese which is hand-rolled in their fresh pizza dough and baked to golden brown. They make a money meatball combined with their sweet red sauce which leaves little spicy, heat on your palate on the after bite. Mangino’s also has homemade wedding soup, sandwiches, chicken wings, and pasta entrees, and classics which include lasagna. If you are not hungry for pizza, there are a ton of other items to choose from.
