I have a challenge or experiment if you choose to partake. Over the next month, take a moment and ask people you encounter if they have or know someone who has a camp in the Tionesta/Tidioute area. I think you will be pleasantly surprised how many people say yes? The Allegheny National Forest is nicknamed, “the Natural Escape.” Most will tell you, when you enter the land of enchantment you can feel the stress melt away. Take a Kayak and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the Allegheny River, fish Tionesta Creek, or play a round of golf at one of the mountain courses. Camping trips bring people together, remove you from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and let you go back to the basics for a few days. This being my 15th year in a row, we always make it a point to stop at Willie’s Smoke House. Let me show you why this is a must-stop on the way to the mountains.

For over 40 years, Willie’s has used a century-old recipe for dried beef. Using only the highest quality meats and a unique blend of hardwoods, the flavor of their smoked meats and cheeses is incredible. The Beef jerky has a salty, crisp, and flavorful taste. If you are looking for something lighter you can try their various kinds of Beef Sticks. They are also known for their smoked bacon and hams. You will find different rubs, marinades, and sauces as well.

Willie’s is also famous for their smoked cheeses. Offering varieties such as Colby Jack, Brick, American, and Havarti Cheese. Our personal favorite is their Smoked Swiss. I do not really care for Swiss Cheese, however, the flavor that is added during the smoking process is incredible. Our Camping party always buys pounds of it and there is never any left to bring home.
